Our Jibble review

Jibble says it is free all over its website, and technically it is: the free plan lets you track time for unlimited users, with face recognition, GPS and a geofence. The catch is what is missing. According to Jibble's own help centre, the free plan has a single administrator, so you cannot add managers or supervisors. Timesheet approval by pay period, which is how most businesses sign off hours before payroll, is a Premium feature. So is unlimited historical data with Excel and CSV exports, and so are the detailed reports.

In practice that means the free plan works for watching hours come in, but as soon as you need a second person to manage staff, or a clean way to approve and export a pay period, you are paying per user. Once you factor in the real price, the value is not particularly good compared with tools that are upfront about their pricing.

Be careful with online comparisons of Jibble. Many of the "best time clock" lists that rank it highly are thin affiliate content, and few of them mention which features are paywalled. Read the plan comparison yourself before you roll it out to a team.

Looking for something simpler?

Timeclock.Kiwi was built by people who were fed up with time clocks that take three screens and a training session to use. Staff tap their name and a PIN on any tablet, a photo is taken in the background, and hours export straight to your payroll. You pay per kiosk, not per employee, from $5 a month.

Free for 3 months, no credit card required.
