Setting up a Kiosk

Before you start, make sure you have created a Kiosk and added people to it. Then pick the device your Kiosk will run on.

1. Log the tablet in to your Kiosk

Quick setup Recommended

  1. On a computer, log in to the Portal and open the Kiosks tab.
  2. Press Quick setup next to your Kiosk. A QR code will appear.
  3. Open the camera on your tablet, point it at the QR code and tap the link that pops up.

The tablet logs straight in to that Kiosk, so there is no need to type a password on it. The QR code refreshes itself while it's open, and the window closes with a green tick once the tablet has connected.

Quick setup only shows for Kiosks that are Available, meaning no device is logged in to them yet.

Or log in on the tablet

Open Chrome on the tablet, go to timeclock.kiwi and log in as an Admin or a Manager who can manage the Kiosk. Choose Kiosk when asked where to go, then pick your Kiosk.

2. Install the Kiosk as a Progressive Web App A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a website you can install like a normal app, without going through an app store. It gets its own icon, opens full screen without the browser's address bar, and keeps working if the internet drops out.

  1. When the Kiosk shows Install Timeclock.Kiwi app, tap Install, then Install again to confirm.
  2. No install message? Tap Chrome's ⋮ menu in the top right corner, then Add to Home screen and Install. The Kiosk won't offer again for 30 days if someone tapped Not now.
  3. Open the new Timeclock icon on the home screen. The Kiosk opens full screen without the address bar, and stays logged in.
